Reservoir Dogs (1992)

Harvey Keitel, Tim Roth, Steve Buscemi
Rating: 3.0 / 10.0

Santa Claus left a DVD player beneath the Christmas tree at my house this year. I had no DVDs so I went out to National Record Mart here in Meadville, which sad to say has gone out of business, and bought some DVDs. Now comes the question, if you were to rebuild your film collection from scratch, what would be the first on your list? Reservoir Dogs was the first one on my list.

If you haven't seen Quentin Tarantino's first masterpiece, then shame on you. This is arguably the greatest new American gangster movie ever. Reservoir Dogs begins with a simple plan, six guys busting in and busting out of a diamond wholesaler in broad daylight. Things go awry when the heist is botched and the cops show up. A brilliant film in every way, the dialog, cinematography and the cast.

As far as the DVD's special features go, there really isn't anything exciting. Most DVDs feature outtakes or special commentary by the director. Reservoir Dogs features the widescreen and standard view and French or Spanish subtitles. Nothing all that exciting, but it was cool reading the "Like a Virgin" scene in Spanish.

All in all, if you're like me and you're building your DVD collection, this is a must. If you're not like me, go buy this one anyways. The movie itself is a 9.5 rating, but the special features on the DVD only rate a 3.
