The loudest band on earth now has their very own DVD.

Twenty years after its inception, Spinal Tap is on what is to be its final tour. Filmmaker Marty DiBergi follows the ever-changing group on their US tour, keeping them on schedule while filming this rockumentary. According to one music critic, "The musical growth of this band cannot even be charted. They are treading water in a sea of retarded sexuality and bad poetry." To which the band replies, "Well that's just nitpicking, isn't it?"

If it's features you're looking for, you've come to the right place. There are over 100 minutes of extras, including over an hour of deleted scenes, much of which very easily could have been made it into the final cut; brand new commentary from the band; and an exclusive interview called, "Catching Up With Marty DiBergi." If all that wasn't enough, the DVD also includes six television spots, the original theatrical trailer, and four of Tap's music videos: Hell Hole, Listen to the Flower People, Big Bottom, and Gimme Some Money.

One warning for those who plan on renting or purchasing this DVD is that there are two older versions. The first is just the movie, like what people saw in the theaters way back in '84. The second, the Criterion Edition, released in '94, includes some cut scenes, interviews with the founding members of the band and the director, and the 20 minute demo (about the only thing on this edition which doesn't appear on the Special Edition) which was used to pitch the film to executives at Embassy Pictures. But for the most bang for your buck, make sure you get the 2000 Special Edition DVD, which includes the most features and highest quality picture and sound.

If you've ever been in a band, wondered what it would be like to be in a band, or seen a band, you'll enjoy This is Spinal Tap: Special Edition and all of its features.
